Dr. Luke Wendel graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in biology. He then earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa in 2006. After completing an internship at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, he returned to Iowa to complete his ophthalmology residency at the prestigious University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. He subsequently stayed to complete an intensive medical retinal fellowship, in which he focused on treatment and evaluation of macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, posterior uveitis, and inherited diseases of the retina. In addition to providing specialized care to patients with retinal disease, he also practices general ophthalmology, including cataract surgery.
Dr. Wendel and his wife, a dermatologist, have four beautiful daughters.
